After the great success of the excursion to Ticino last autumn, we are bringing you another sightseeing tour. This time, we will explore the beauty of the banks of Lac Léman in the french-speaking canton of Vaud. We will start our trip by visiting the Château de Chillon (entrance fee 12,5 Fr. for students). Then we will move to nearby Montreux where we will check out the lake promenade with a famous statue of Freddie Mercury. For lunch, we will grab some food in the centre. Afterwards we will embark on a boat to get back to the city of Lausanne while admiring the characteristic vineyards (even part of the UNESCO World Heritage) from the surface of the lake. In Lausanne we can stroll through the city centre and visit the cathedral or the Olympia museum.

Connections:

We are going to take a train from Zürich HB at 7:19 with a change in Lausanne and we are going to arrive in Veytaux-Chillon at 10:24. Connection Link

There are direct trains from Lausanne back to Zurich every 30 minutes. We will decide on the spot which one we will take. Duration of the way back is approximately 2,5 hours.

Tickets:

Note that the tickets for trains etc. are not going to be organized collectively. We are going to travel a lot, so it pays off to buy a day pass (Tageskarte). It allows for flexibility and is valid for boats, as well. There is either the Spartageskarte possibly combined with Halbtax, which has to be purchased in advance and whose price grows with time, or the Friends-Tageskarte Jugend, which has a fixed price of 80 Fr. and can be used by up to 4 persons under the age of 25 (max 24,99), i.e. if 4 people share one ticket, each one has to pay 20 Fr. only. You can use the WhatsApp group (see below) to arrange the ticket with others.

Communication:

There is a WhatsApp group for any news & meeting arrangements: Link to join WhatsApp
